At the AGM of the Kingborough District Cricket Club held recently the Chairman of the Club’s cricket committee, Paul Vincent, announced the appointment of the Club Coaches for the coming season.
Head Coach is Tim Scott, returning for his third year at the helm after the success gained last season with the Club winning the Club Championship Award, five teams playing in finals and the 3rd Grade and Under 17’s teams being Premiers.
The new members of this year’s coaching team include former Knight and state opening bowler Gerard Denton, who is returning as Assistant Coach. Gerard is looking forward to re-joining the Club and sharing his years of experience at the top level with Kingborough’s up and coming junior players.
Other coaches will be; Clive Rose returning to the Club after losing his Cricket Tasmania Contract, Nathan Freitag who coached the Clubs Under 17 team to a premiership last season will extend his coaching to a club development role while Andrew Henley will take over the Under 17’s role. Stalwarts Jarrod Williams, Stu Clark and Bryce Turnbull will also continue their roles with the Club.
Office bearers elected at the AGM were:
President – John French, Vice President – Paul Vincent, Chairman – Simon Burgess, Treasurers Tony and Helen Coad and Secretary – Sarah Ward. Board members elected – Alyssa Small, Lincoln Street, Darren Poland, Shane Holland and Rod Webster.
Special tribute was paid to retiring Chairman Rod Backhouse who has served on the Board for 9 years and retiring Secretary Andrea Dare who performed that duty for the past 3 years.
First Grade start their season with T20 games at the Twin Ovals on the 8th and 9th of October. Training is under way at the Twin Ovals and High Performance Cricket Tasmania on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
