The Kingborough Knights held their annual First & Second Grade post season vote counts on Thursday 27th March 2014. The Club also named the Under 17s Grand Final team.
Beau Webster was always a favourite for the First Grade Player of the Season award, following a breakout season which saw him selected for his Sheffield Shield debut. However it was not as clear cut as some thought with big quick and die-hard Chooks fan, Adam Maher, only 6 votes behind in second place. Vice Captain Jason Shelton rounded out the top 3.
The Second Grade vote count was also hotly contested. In the end the club’s leading fashionista, Mitch Backhouse, was awarded the Chris Legg Memorial Trophy by a comfortable margain following a maximum vote performance in the Semi Final. Left-arm seamer Matthew Bigwood was second followed by the hairiest KDCC member, in Blair Harrison.
The club also wished the Under 17 team all the best for their upcoming Grand Final versus Clarence at the Kingston Twin Ovals. The match will be played from 11AM to 6PM on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th March. The team was named as follows:
|Dylan Hay (c)|
|Coach: Paul Vincent|
These events were preceded by the KDCC Junior presentations, at which prodigious talent Toby Cowen received the Sam Malone Memorial Trophy for best Under 15 player, as well as collecting both the batting and bowling awards! The Under 15 Premiership winning team were also honoured following their unbeaten season.
