The Knights Under 15 team kept their perfect season alive with a great win against a very strong University team.
The team travelled to University oval for our first T20 of the season, eyeing to go into the break with a lot of confidence. The Knights won the toss and elected to bat on a relatively flat Uni pitch.
The Knights started off quite slow with Luke Williams (9) starting well until the the introduction of Lachlan Clifford, who snared both openers, Williams followed by Sam Roberts (4) in quick succession. With the score at 2 /24 after 7 overs, the Knights fought their way to 2/48 before the loss of 5 wickets for just 28 runs. Angus Szoke top scored with a solid 31 which included three boundaries to get the team to a score of 7/86.
The Knights went out into the field knowing that they could defend a modest total of 86 on a pitch which offered a bit of uneven bounce.
University started slowly getting to 0/7 before Lochie Griggs struck with a great ball to get the first wicket which started a major collapse of 10/31. Great spells of bowling from Luke Williams (3/9 off 3.4 overs), Piripi Reihana (2/4 off 2 overs) and single wickets to Daniel Gardner, Griggs, and Toby Cowen. The Knights also managed to snare two run outs which included a direct hit from Connor O’Brien.
This completed a great day for the Under 15’s who maintained their 8 point lead on top of the ladder. The team now has a four week break and will go into the new year with a lot of confidence.
Great team effort from all of the boys!
